26 weeks on labour and birth with a videoooo

we've been studying up on child birth over the last couple of days. trying to educate ourselves as best we can so that we can be prepared for the incredible, beautiful experience of labour and birth.

i really am so excited for the birthing process. it is something that scared me before i was pregnant. i used to get grossed out by pictures and footage of women giving birth. now that it is a reality for me my thoughts have taken a complete turn. giving birth has to be one of the most beautiful experiences available to women. what an incredible privilege. trusting in these amazing bodies to do what they are designed to do. to see and feel my body change in the months leading to birth blows my mind.

i can't wait for those feelings of elation. feelings of my body moving and changing to allow for this child to be born into the world. i can't wait for the feelings of accomplishment for the best day/s work in my life. i can't wait to connect with timmy in a way we never have before in this completely new experience together. i know i'll need his strength to get me through, to keep me calm and focussed and to help me remember that my body was designed for this, that i have the strength and ability. i know that he'll be everything i need him to be.

the reward at the end, no matter the process, is one that will be worth any experience encountered during birth.

most of all this little baby is the thing i can't wait for the most.

a christmas tree.

i looooove christmas.

timmy and i have pretty much had two christmases together already. the first was four days before we got married, timmy slept over at my mum and dads house so that we could spend christmas morning together then we travelled up the coast to spend the afternoon with timmy's family. last year we were living at mum and dads house so the day went a similar way to the year before. this year will be the same again. that's the way we like it.

this year is however, the first time we're not living with anyone else but us. we've had to get a tree and i'm pretty happy about it! we went to an awesomely kitsch christmas warehouse but didn't find a good tree that was less than one million dollars (steep i know!). luckily our good friends gave us a heads up about a tree that was being sold at aldi for $50. you might think that 50 big ones doesn't buy you anything good but i'm telling ya, this is the best tree ever! it has like five different types and lengths of foliage and the tree just folds up so it's super easy to set up and oh my goodness i could rave about this tree forever. it is the flippin best!

so we put it up and trooper loves it.

i also am undergoing a project to make every single decoration that goes on our tree this year.

i think this might mean that our tree will be looking a bit bare until christmas day. so far i've made glittery gold baubles and the little birds in the photos.

walking in the rain

our little family of three (troop, timmy and i) like to walk.
today we walked in the pouring rain to the beach where we watched enormous waves smash against the battered sand. troop bounded through the water while timmy and i huddled together and read the scriptures with huge ice cold rain drops running down our backs. we headed for home as quick as we could to the safety of our blue house.

these photos are from our walk around my mum and dad's house last week. their garden is awesome and beautiful and huge and one of my favourite places.

fully sick.

life is better. now that, now that i found you life is.

the last week has been gross. it involved lots of nose blowing and coughing and spluttering and watching boring tv. a few things have been great. we got a new pup. another thing that has been great- spending hours chatting, watching movies and laughing on the lounge with timmy. there definitely have been times in my life when the thought of spending all day every day with anyone would send me running. it's different with the one you love.

the pup (still nameless. thank you for your awesome suggestions, although you have only made the impossible task harder!) loves the beach. she suits this family of four just swell.

we ventured to the beach this morning to escape the bug incubator that is our home. it was quite warm, we wore hoodies. i tried a bit of film photography. i'll show the photos once they are developed (this is providing 1. there was actually film in the camera 2. i can work out how to get it out)

we're feeling heaps better today, thank goodness. i'll be making the trek to uni tomorrow morning to try and catch up on the work i missed last week and hopefully some super creative juices will flow, maybe they have been just piling up over the last week and are waiting to burst out of my body and i will make the best thing ever. maybe. i hope.

a new nameless pup.

my lap is warm as a new little pup snuggles in for the night. troop has a sister, finally. she doesn’t have a name yet. i need your help.

she will melt your heart with one little bunny hop.

yesterday was her first day with us, she has a lot to learn but is already feeling like part of the family. we just need a flippin’ name. i have a list of about 20 baby names i love for when the time comes. who knew it would be harder to name a puppy!

this is her. we love her, troop looooooves her and we think she might just like us too.

the lawn mower woes of timmy and kesh

Tim already told me.

This afternoon I got home after a very loooong commute to uni (6 hours all up) and Timmy was a little bit of a cranky pants. You see, we have some things with motors at our house that aren't working. I don't really understand the serious issues related to lawn mowers making strange sounds and why they cause Timmy so much pain, but I did understand when I got home that I needed to take Troop for a long walk. ASAP.
I gave husband poopypants some time to cool off. I am a sensitive soul. His crankiness was obviously not directed at me at all. The situation had been explained. The lawn mower was to be blamed for the disinterest in my woe-some tales of train travel and people watching in the city and the girl with the dance music on her phone and the friend I made and blah, blah.
So back to the start, the reason I went for a walk by myself. Tim told me why he was cranky and my girl head assumed the lawn mower could not be solely responsible for a mood swing such as this! There must have been some deep dark reason... I asked again.
Alas, the lawn mower did it!

The cranker was turned quickly back into Timmy the happy photographer and best husband.

And.... we had the best leftover dinner surprise ever. It was way better than what they were making on My Kitchen Rules and even healthier than what they eat on Biggest Loser.

Troop and I enjoyed our one on one time. Troop sniffed some new bums and a lady stopped to tell me how much she loved my dress.
Great afternoon. Promise.

Did I mention that while it was a little quieter in our house this afternoon Timmy did two loads of washing? Hung out and folded.
