35, 36, 37, 38

lately i have been a little incognito (i don't even know if that is the right context for that word...), purely because i didn't feel like blogging. i felt like cuddling with timmy, walking on our little grass and beach tracks, getting acupuncture, spending time with family etc and so forth. it's been wonderful.

life is incredible with all its amazing changes. so many highs and lows like waves come and go. over here we've had days filled with joy and happiness at the impending arrival of our little one (only just over a week 'til our due date), days full of love, solemnity and sadness as we visited my pa who will likely pass our little one on the way to heaven as they exchange places. making the circle of life so real to us. i would like them to have time to meet so that my precious pa can hold our precious baby and send him or her down to meet us.

the photos below show the journey from 35 to 38 weeks.

32 weeks swimming and thinking about traditions

today is easter saturday. my first easter pregnant, my last easter without a baby, our first easter not visiting family (the pooch has just had a operation which means we are house bound for two weeks). also, i think i have had about 10 mini eggs in total this easter season. that is a very poor effort.

this is a different kind of easter. i feel like my life is in fast forward and slow motion at the same time. know what i mean?

what a special time to think about this.

tomorrow i'm cooking up a big roast. three meats, eight veggies, gravy - you know the deal. i'm pretty excited about it. i love to cook, i love to eat. i love sharing food with people i love. i love that so many cultural/family/religious traditions are centred around food.

i'm excited to get to choose traditions to carry on in our family. one of my favourite family traditions from when i was a kid was that on every birthday we would all (five kids was the most at one time) jump into mum and dads bed first thing in the morning to watch the birthday-person unwrap their presents. the feeling of waiting in anticipation to find out what was underneath the wrapping paper - to see the reaction on the face of the birthday kid as they unwrap what you had given, is something i know i want my kids to experience all together in one big bed. i will definitely want to continue this tradition in our little family.

28 weeks in a riding cape with a kinfolk giveaway!

today i wore my new favourite item of clothing. a green riding cape (it also has a hood). the weather was perfect for gumboots, umbrellas, winter leggings and capes.

as the calendar flicked to a new month the weather changed with it. rain and mist cover our hills now. the blanket on the bed is pulled up high on our chilled shoulders instead of being pushed far down the end away from overheated toes.

i am welcoming this cooler weather with open arms. it makes me think of the life i lived in canada - waking to find fresh powdery snow, drifts big enough to cover our car completely. i miss it there. i'm desperate to show timmy the places that hold such a special place in my heart.

we'll take our baby there one day too. our little eskimo baby.

wearing american apparel unisex gumboot, winter legging in burnt orange, polka dot chiffon oversized button-up in black and creme polka dot, california fleece cape in forest.

this week i have a copy of the best magazine in the world to giveaway - that mag is kinfolk. tim and i received our very own copy this week and i have been losing it over every single page. there is a story about a couple who travel across canada to stay in one of the places i lived called prince edward island (think anne of green gables). you all need to go there, promise.

i have a second copy of kinfolk mag that i will be gifting to one of you lucky suckers. all you have to do is follow my blog and leave a comment below! the winner will be announced a week from today.

you can find out more about kinfolk here.
