today is easter saturday. my first easter pregnant, my last easter without a baby, our first easter not visiting family (the pooch has just had a operation which means we are house bound for two weeks). also, i think i have had about 10 mini eggs in total this easter season. that is a very poor effort.
this is a different kind of easter. i feel like my life is in fast forward and slow motion at the same time. know what i mean?
what a special time to think about this.
tomorrow i'm cooking up a big roast. three meats, eight veggies, gravy - you know the deal. i'm pretty excited about it. i love to cook, i love to eat. i love sharing food with people i love. i love that so many cultural/family/religious traditions are centred around food.
i'm excited to get to choose traditions to carry on in our family. one of my favourite family traditions from when i was a kid was that on every birthday we would all (five kids was the most at one time) jump into mum and dads bed first thing in the morning to watch the birthday-person unwrap their presents. the feeling of waiting in anticipation to find out what was underneath the wrapping paper - to see the reaction on the face of the birthday kid as they unwrap what you had given, is something i know i want my kids to experience all together in one big bed. i will definitely want to continue this tradition in our little family.

Oh birthday presents in bed - one of my favourites. You will love creating traditions for your little family. So special.
ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous in these pics Kesh - beautiful and serene. I have an inkling that water will play an integral part in your labour/birth. Buoyancy is oh so welcome in deep, active labour. My students always ask when they'll know to get in the bath. Trust your instincts - you'll know when the time is right x
this colour looks fabulous on you - or maybe it's the belly that looks fabulous? or both?? :)

(ps. Jodi knows what's what - water+birth are magic. :) )
this stage of pregnancy is so beautiful kesh, and I totally understand what you mean about fast forward and slow, all at the same time. especially through a celebration like easter or christmas that will mark the last with just you and tim. I love the last four shots x
ReplyDeleteYou look so gorgeous Kesh! I've been loving my ocean swims this week, but none have been by moonlight like yours. I'm kind of impressed that you're not too cold. p.s. birthday presents in bed is the best tradition ever x
ReplyDeleteyou are so beautiful, kesh! can't wait to see your family traditions unfold...
ReplyDeleteWe have the same birthday tradition! I love it too.
ReplyDeleteAnother tradition that I really like is on Good Friday we go to my mum and dad's (Oma & Opa's) house and make chocolates. For years we have had a range of cousins making chocolates and this is followed by a pancake lunch. Yummo! I think I really like these simple traditions.
Easter, and Christmas is so much fun when you get to share it with little ones. I envy the fact that you are just starting......

ReplyDeleteHi Kesh. Not sure why it's taken me so long to get over here, for some reason I feel like I somehow know you and Tim, thanks to my "friends" Claire, Jodi and Em! That's the funny thing about blogging I suppose. Anyway, it's a lovely space, and I'm now your newest follower! Super exciting news about your baby .... so much love just around the corner! Kellie xx
